Poll: Levels of PC's at various Stages
OK What were you PC's avg. level when:
They got to Hommlet?
They fought U?
They finished the Moathouse?
They finished exploring the old Temple?
They left for Rastor?
They entered the CRM?
They entered the Outer Fane?
They went for the Recovered Temple?
And/Or they went into the Black Spire?
Just curious.

I've only just started, but I'll fill out what I can.
- The PCs were third level when they got to Hommlett. They immedietly went to the old temple and cleared out the hobgoblins.
- Saturday, they will go to the moathouse and face Big U. They are currently 4th level.
However, there will be seven of them, plus an NPC (two if they let Chat come along  ) ) and an animal companion.

Finished off the cult in Hommlett? 6th (at least thats what I expect, they are really close to 6th level and are about to face the cultists as they exit the moathouse)

I also only recently started, but I'll fill out what I can. I have 7 PC's, btw.
They got to Hommlet? 4
They fought U? 4 (first thing, too, right after the frog)
They nearly finished the Moathouse? 5 (all but obelisk chamber)
They have gotten rid of all the cultists. Vacra caught with the wagon on the way to Rastor. The party is going to finish the moathouse, then they are considering going right to Rastor to deal with Tal Chammish "before he gets away"! !?! That darn note...

Early on, I had 4 actual PC's and 1 NPC along. In the mid to late stages of the CRM, I have 7 PC's and 7 NPC's (one player couldn't make it the night of the Hedrack battle, the NPC leader is Xaod and his 6 human warrior troops who guard the PC's horses and wagons).
For most of the way in the CRM, they were 1 level over the recommended level on the overview map, but it didn't seem to unbalance anything or make it too easy for them.

Going to try...you'll have a hard time with this survey...most who can answer the early questions surely won't be able to answer the later yet, and those who can answer the later won't remember the early well.

I have a quite a few PCs (I think the current total is 7), so the average level is a bit lower than most given here.
Anyway, here we go:
They got to Hommlet? 3
They fought U? 3
They finished the Moathouse? 4
They finished exploring the old Temple? 5
They left for Rastor? 5
They entered the CRM? 5
Currently they are around 7th level and they have cleared most of the western parts (from west gate to air temple) of the CRM, excluding fire bridge and Vranthis.

Five PCs, one cohort for a while (died badly, no replacement likely until they're 11th or 12th).
They got to Hommlet? Fourth.
They fought U? Fourth.
They finished the Moathouse? Fifth.
They finished exploring the old Temple? Fifth.
They left for Rastor? Sixth.
They entered the CRM? Sixth.
Still in CRM, they've now got four at eighth level and one at ninth - should be a ninth level APL very soon. Been moving a little slow, they've wiped the main entrance, the Earth temple, and the Air bridge complex, plus Vranthis and assorted critters NW of the Fire bridge complex. Then they switched gears and piled through the South entrance, not quite sure which way they'll head next but I anticipate they'll be high 9th or low 10th by the time they take their first crack at the Outer Fane.

6 PCs - no NPCs, animal companions, etc. They are quite combat-orientated, so I'd say that they were equivalent party level 2 to 3 higher than average character level.

- They left for Rastor? 5th - at this point, one PC had died, so they were a little reduced, level-wise. They took two supplementary adventures (Speaker in Dreams and The Cradle of Madness, so...

- They entered the Outer Fane? 8th-10th
