I know its mostly for kids (you can build some really nasty superheroes) - but you can choose a fantasycharacter, and quickly make a portrait of a character, equiped with weapons, armor etc. It only works for individuals, not groups - so I know its not exactly what you were looking for, but it might help. And its free.
